Mr Mwenye has also echoed recent sentiments by Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda that there are some corrupt elements in the Judiciary who are bringing the name of the profession into disrepute.
Speaking during the launch of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) Strategic Plan for 2013 to 2018 in Lusaka last evening, Mr. Mwenye noted the rampant abuse of accounts by legal practitioners which he says amounts to theft.
Mr. Mwenye says legal practitioners should preserve the respect of the profession by being professional for the benefit of the people they serve.
He has since emphasized that the role the Law Association of Zambia plays in good governance in the country cannot be over emphasized and thus the need for lawyers throughout the country to be professional.
Mr Mwenye has also expressed happiness at the partnership that exists between government and LAZ in promoting Legal and Justice Reforms.
Speaking earlier, LAZ President George Chisanga, says the document launched sets out what LAZ plans to achieve in the next five years.
Mr Chisanga says the association will strive to remain independent, accessible and responsive to its members and the public while meeting its statutory objectives.
Mr. Chisanga says the desire and commitment of the association is to empower and provide quality services to the members, promote good governance and upholding the rule of law.
