In an interview, Kalaba, who is foreign affairs minister and PF Bahati member of parliament, said come 2016, the UPND would be vanquished.
“As PF, we shall continue getting stronger on the ground as can be witnessed from the recent local government by-election results,” Kalaba said.
He said it was the UPND’s right to assume that they would win the 2016 general elections.
Kalaba, however, said in 2016, the UPND would be alienated and mutilated.
“Zambians will continue punishing leaders who pursue regional politics. The victory of the PF in the 25 local government by-elections shows the confidence that people have in the PF. People have seen that we have not betrayed them. So Zambians have rejected regionalism and are looking for leaders who will bridge this divide,” said Kalaba.
He said UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema should understand that in this time and era, there was no room for regional politics.
The PF won 18 of the 25 local government by-elections that were held on August 19.
The UPND on the other hand won in six wards; four in Southern Province, one in Chibombo and another in Kaoma.
The MMD on the other hand only managed to scoop one ward by-election in Masaiti
