Supreme Court throws out PF petition for Chipangali Seat

vinMovement for Multi-party Democracy-MMD ,CHIPANGALI Member of Parliament,VINCENT MWALE, can breath again after a Supreme Court verdict upheld the LUSAKA High Court’s declaration that he was duly elected.

Acting Deputy Chief Justice MARVIN MWANAMWAMBWA ruled that the appeal by the petitioner – LUCAS PHIRI of the Patriotic Front-PF has flopped.

Justice MWANAMWAMBWA quashed six out of the seven grounds of appeal raised by the petition-LUCAS PHIRI of the Patriotic Front-PF.

This is in a Judgement delivered in Lusaka.

And Mr MWALE has declared that justice has prevailed following today’s Supreme Court’s verdict to uphold the LUSAKA High Court ruling that he was duly elected.

Mr MWALE says the status quo will enable him to focus on developmental programmes in CHIPANGALI Constituency.

The CHIPANGALI Parliamentary Electoral Petition was one of the more than 60 petitions filed in the High Courts after the September 20,2011 tripartite Elections.
