Parliament Chase Away Cabinet Office PS

th1The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today chased Cabinet Office Acting Permanent Secretary, Ireen Chifumbano, and her team for failing to respond to audit queries.

PAC chairperson, Getrude Imenda directed that Chifumbano and her team go back and put their house in order.

Chifumbano has appeared before the PAC to answer queries in the 2013 Auditor General’s report.

Imenda said the issues raised in the 2013 Auditor General’s report are very important and need answers.

Meanwhile, Chifumbano who attempted to respond to some of the queries told the committee that she could not give satisfactory answers because the substantive Permanent Secretary, Margaret Miyoba was out of office.

The 2013 Auditor General’s report reveals irregularities relating to payments and awarding of contracts for the rehabilitation, supply of Curtains and Catering services at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
