picnPresident Edgar Lungu has raised the political bar too high and it will be difficult for the opposition to match it, Zambian Voice Executive Director Chilufya Tayali has observed.

And Tayali says it will be very difficult for opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema to win next years because they ‘irritate’ people.

He has advised the opposition political party to respect other peoples freedom of expression and be tolerant to divergent views.

“The UPND must realize that they cannot threaten or beat people to vote for them, rather they irritate people and which brings hatred of the Party making them lose elections other than the rigging they talk about.

For the UPND everyone is a sellout unless he/she sympathizes with them. But it must be borne in their minds that not everyone is desperate as they maybe.” Tayali said.

The Zambian Voice Executive Director says the Patriotic Front stands a greater chance of sweeping back to State House due to the poor performance of the opposition which he said was fragmented.

“The PF even stands to win 2016 general elections due to poor opposition performance.

It is unfortunate that even some civil servants play some political gimmicks in their execution of work.” Tayali said.
